Before this blissful digital photography age took hold,
I used to have a chemical darkroom set up here in my home.
I'd lock myself into a dark room
with a tiny red lightbulb for hours at a time!
A room full of hazardous chemical smells...yikes.
This photograph of my daughter
was one that I developed myself in that very darkroom.
It was fun to watch the photos emerge from nothing.
It's a process that I'm happy to have learned,
but one that I would not want to go back to.
Digital photography...digital darkrooms
are where it's at for me these days.
Knowing you have a great shot the instant you take the photo,
processing your pictures right on your computer screen,
chemical free...you just can't beat that in my books.
However, the charm and artful beauty
of the original film photography
will always hold a special place in my heart...
...as will this precious,
self-developed photo of my darling daughter!

Digital imaging is one that I struggle with constantly. I could not do without my programs, Photoshop, Corel.....I really do think it's a matter of what Camera you own as well. Mine is el-cheapo. LOL
ReplyDeleteBut, ever since I was a teen, I have had visions of me being in a darkroom and developing photos, old style. I think it's the ultimate "Artsy" thing. I love the photo you took of your daughter - it's so beautiful. What a sweet frame too! Also, The pitcher of roses are gorgeous.
Have a wonderful day Carmelina! xo

What a beautiful photo of your daughter. What a doll!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is a little doll!!
ReplyDeleteI fully understand what you are saying I used to help my father in the dark room and it was fun but I always got the clean up job after! My dad would swan off to show everyone his photographs and I would be left to wash out all of the dishes, something not right with that arrangement, Maureen.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of your daughter! I'm glad I missed the dark room days, the digital photograph makes things earlier for most people. thanks for stopping by, Laura
ReplyDeleteI, too, learned photography in the age of darkrooms. I also processed xray films that same way. I have to say, it is WONDERFUL to know instantly that you've successfully captured that image (or xray). Your digital photos are wonderful.
