SKETCHBOOK COMPOSITIONS

I keep a sketchbook or art journal
and at times I'm not pleased with how certain pages might turn out.
Sometimes it's just not what I had in mind,
and other times I just don't feel that it was a successful drawing.
I'm sure you've experienced that too?!

What I do when this happens
is pull some pages out and start piecing together new compositions.
This arrangement came from three misfire pages in my sketchbook.

I cut out my own image, the one of my husband in the centre
and the two of my kids that were on a third page.
I then layered each person from back to front
and I love the layout and look of the piece as an entity now!
It just might make it's way onto a board backing of some sort
and be permanently hung here in my home.

So the next time you're frustrated
over some mishap in your personal sketchbook,
perhaps you should take a second look
and start tearing things up a bit!

  9. Your son's bust drawing is absolutely amazing. The apple sure doesn't fall far from the tree. I love that ya'll sit around the table as a family and create together. Your embroidery pieces are wonderful -- I like the teacup towels especially. Hope you are having another great weekend. Tammy

  15. I have no doubt in my mind, you can piece together the puzzles in this world and make beauty from them. What an art.

I love the way you encourage us to do the same. Ha, it makes me think you think we can do this...Do you have any idea what a true artist you really are?

Goodness, it's always such a special journey coming here. I often feel as though I'm sitting at the feet of one of the best artist of our time.

  17. Ciao Bella;
I agree with you. I found in the past I used to be a little bit stiff in my art worrying about making a mistake, that is until I started drawing carefree sketches with a ballpoint pen. Forced to accept the lines drawn could've easily been disheartening when an error would occur, but I soon found that the drawing could sometimes be redeemed and turn out not to bad in the end if I just kept going. Love how your art collage turned out!
    Thanks for your continual inspiration!
    Your Hubby,

  18. Hi Carmelina,

This post is so very cool. I kind of had the same experience - sort of. I started a background for one of my She Arts and no matter what I did I wasn't happy. Then, after walking away for a while I came back to it and saw it so differently. It turned out perfect. Isn't that so cool when that happens!

    Love your art, as always.

    Hugs,
    Kay

  20. Lady if I had 1/4 of you drawing talent I would be thrilled with everything I did! Oh well, anything created by the hand is an extension of the heart. So it's beautiful to someone. At least that's what my 2nd grade art teacher said.

    Have a great week
