JANE AUSTEN PORTRAIT EMBROIDERY

I've been away for a few days,
spending time with the family over the weekend.
We usually share some time together
at our round kitchen table making some sort of art.
While everyone was drawing, here's what I was working on!

This hand embroidered portrait of Jane Austen!
I have mounted it in this vintage frame...
a find I haven't been able to part with!

There are so many intricate lines in this drawing,
but I took my sweet old time filling it all in
and I just love the result!

You can see that I sewed the embroidered piece
right onto the card backing
that originally came with the vintage frame.
I wanted the piece to have an old world charm about it,
to have it look like something that might have been made during Jane's time
and has been cherished and taken care of to this day!

This is one of those projects that I've had on my long list
of things to do ... and I've finally taken the time to just do it!
The colour tones are perfect for my home
and it now hangs in my hallway.

I hope it DOESN'T sell for a while
because I'd like to enjoy it,
but it also hangs in my virtual shop
if you want to have a peek!

  5. Love your Miss Austin! She is lovely. How will you part with her? I have a frame just like yours. It has been used as a little bulletin board, as a tray and even sometimes to frame a vintage piece of artwork! I adore it! New follower. Thank you for dropping by my place. Happy Pink Saturday.
    Blessings, Audrey
