SELF PORTRAIT JOURNALING

Putting together two page journal spreads
is a favourite pass time of mine.

I have cut out and reused a floral image
from a card because I thought it was pretty,
and it is Floral Friday after all
...so anything with a flower on it
 is eligible for today's post!

It is a self portrait.
Fun to do every now and again.

Journaling about yourself,
your emotions and stresses,
and drawing your own face is surprisingly therapeutic.
I highly recommend it!

  1. HI there, just coming on over after seeing your sweet comment on my blog! Thanks for following - I am now following you too! Your journal spread is just fantastic, and looks like you had so much fun doing it. I've never done a self-portrait in my journal... perhaps now is the time! Glad to have found you...

  5. Oh my. This one takes my breath away. Seriously. I love the fact that you placed yourself on both pages. It gives a double impact-large and small. The framing of the second face really draws you into the page as well. Your penmanship/calligraphy is amazing. This journal spread is my favorite of yours so far..and..it does take nerve to draw and paint a self-portrait. Fabulous.

  23. Thanks for your comment via my blog. I have only just started blogging and enjoy it immensely. Your work is great and I love the idea of a therapeutic self portrait. I also like your themed week great idea and helpful in keeping focus. Nice to meet you and see your work. I love the fact we can share art and ideas even if we are all thousands of kms apart.

  24. Gorgeous self-portrait! I love how you did this! I am so NOT good at doing faces so a painted self-portrait would be stressful for me! I did do some incredibly fun self-portraits for a photography class in the past though...dressed up as different "personalities".. thinking of posting a few one of these days....hmm...

  26. Lovely pages. I find it hard to journal about me or to draw me.

  27. I always read your posts,Carmelina, even if I haven't been commenting lately. Today I feel I have to write as your self portrait is just wonderful. The double-page journal is an excellent idea and framing the smaller self-portrait draws the eye in to reading your journalling. It's more of your beautiful Art as always.

  28. What a beautiful journal you have and to put your picture in it. I can imagine someone reading it in the future and what a wonderful suprise they will have when they can actually be able to see a picture of the person who wrote it and that was also made by them.

  31. Very interesting. I have never thought about doing a self portrait along with my thoughts. I might give that a shot, although the only part I really like about my face are my eyes, maybe I'll just stick with those.

  32. Oh how wonderful Carmelina!!! this is such a great spread...I love your work!!!

  33. The funny thing about drawing yourself (usually mine is a cartoon type of drawing) is I find it easy. Don't forget the mole, and the exact length of eyelash and one tooth slightly longer than the other.
Considering we've looked in detail in the mirror of our lives also daily, I should not be shocked at the results!
Smiling...you are beautiful, inside and out.
(went to a craft fair and what was there? Envelopes made from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs...thought of you!)
