FIBRE ART - FRENCH EMBROIDERY

I've completed my French Embroidery works of art.

I've used canvas fabric, burlap and vintage crochet pieces
to layer this applique patch.

Once the French fibre patch is assembled
I simply attached it to the canvas using two mini wooden clothespins
that have been embellished with some gold bling detailing!

I just love the play of a clean, new white look
contrasted with the vintage and rustic patch.

This collection just might suit your home decorating style,
but for the time being it adorns the walls of my studio!
It's got shabby chic elegance written all over it.

PRETTY PICTURES OF ROSES

It never fails.
When my hubby comes home
with a beautiful bouquet of roses
my camera comes out for a photo session!

White is my favourite colour for any kind of flower,
but I'm sure you probably could have guessed that about me!

The white pitcher was a sweet thrift store find
and the vintage crochet blanket I used as my backdrop
was made by my mother many years ago.

I love throwing in some objects of interest
in the same colour palette when I take photos.
Here I used one of my handmade trivets to add texture!

I'd better get back to my French Embroidery project.
Ciao Bella.

FRENCH EMBROIDERY

Bonjour mes amies!
I have been busy with my needle and thread
working on these French Text Patches.

I thought I'd share the beginning stages with you.

I drew these choice French words onto my fabric freehand.

Then using three ply embroidery floss
in this chocolatey brown colour
I started stitching away
while watching American Idol last night.

I'm still thinking of Joshua's performance.
When he sang "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE"
I had to stop what I was doing and watch him all the way through!
Amazing voice, amazing performance!

Now, where did I put my burlap fabric?

SEWING APPLIQUE PATCHES

I purchased a set of four stamps
from Michael's Craft Store some time ago,
and I've been waiting for the perfect project idea to come along!

Here's what I made yesterday!
Four sets of Four text applique patches
for your own creative adventures.

They are hand stamped on cream canvas fabric
using a sepia coloured ink,
and then embellished with
a coordinating sewn vintage lace border.

How darling would these patches be
on the cover of a plain journal
or a handmade card or scrapbook page!

I have a set just sitting in a small pretty plate
and they make me smile every time I glance at them here in the studio!

Even just pinning them to an inspiration board would be great!

HANDMADE CROCHET RUGS

This is my biggest rope rug yet at forty inches diameter!
The larger the rug, the more of a challenge it is to work on.

My kids were laughing at me
as I was working my way around the rugs edge
because it covered most of my body!

I should have got a picture of that!

CHUNKY CREAM CROCHET DOILY

I am always working with the extra fine threads,
creating new-future vintage doilies.

To change things up a bit around here,
I thought I'd try my hand at a chunky doily design
made with organic cotton yarn instead!

Working from my head, I created this pattern,
and I absolutely love the results so much
that I'll be making one of these for my own home.
This one is listed with love in my SHOP already!

Perfect for a cozy country or shabby chic home decorating style!
